New Year's in LA

Hello 2005. Got back from LA a couple of days ago, am back to normal now, but still in some wierd circadian rhythm, i just can't seem to get to bed early enough, or wake up early enough, I think number one New Year's Resolution should be to fix that up. Anywayyyy.

So yeah, I went over to LA on Thursday, used my United Air Miles to upgrade to Business Class, and got lucky - and they bumped me up to First Class - BOH! All the way to LA on a mighty 13 hour flight - most appreciated! It was a pretty old United plane though, so not superpimping, but I had a full-on bed thing and cupboards and all that stuff. Good old Josh David was there at the Airport to get me, I think he wins the 2004 most punctual and reliable driver on planet earth, so i salute you Josh David.

Had a swim in the pool and all that stuff, got espressos and went out to some wierd Mexican Restaurant. Had the biggest burrito I've evAr seen. Carol came in from NYC the day after, we went out and got some champagne and filled up the sink with ice to keep all the bottles cold. Went up to the rave about 1am - it was some biig raveyrave at the LA Sports centre, 3 rooms - the DNB room was semi-outdoors - Kenny Ken was on when we got there, MCMC & Armanni on the Mic, Hive and Keaton had already been on, and Photek came with us in the Van and went on when we got there. I just chilled and talked to some ravers and stuff until it was my turn. Sound was pretty good up on the stage and lots of semi-naked girlies roaming around with veryveryshortskirts, more of that in 2005 please. Thankyouverymuch.

Went up to Melrose and Hollywood Blvd on New Year's day, had another burrito, and looked at the stars on the sidewalk, found Ozzy Ossbourne's one and some mad/drunk/punk dude was sitting on the floor by it, (his rock devil horns hand in the pic).

Got back on Monday afternoon and got straight back into things, nothing particularly interesting really, just clearing the decks so I can get to work in the studio and plan out release schedules and all that for this year. Anywayyyz, here's the pics from NYE:

Nikolai from San Diego, he put on the show back in November

Photek's head and assorted tram-lines.

The Crowd

With Hive, mighty producer beastman.

Empty Heineken bottle performing to adoring ravers.

With a very happy Kenny Ken

An equally happy MCMC

Drunken Hazen & co.

My Dad carving the turkey on Xmas Day

Christmas pudding, on fire.

The Star Trek Plaque and assorted autoraphs outside the Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Blvd.

New Year's Resolutions....

- Go to the gym more and get superfit before Miami so I can run all the way to Ft. lauderdale.

- Properly learn to Rollerblade, so I can skate all the way to Ft. Lauderdale, and do tricks en route.

- Swim more, I am totally allowed to with my gym membership, doesn't cost anything extra, and its ace fun. I even have my own goggles.

- Eat more healthily esp. when at home, get a steamer so I can eat lots more Vegetablez. In fact yes, must eat way more fruit and vegetables in general.

- I'm not going to give up or reduce Coffee intake because I love it so much, but I am going to cut out Wine until Miami, at least as an experiment to see how much quicker I lose wieght.

- Listen to more Drum&Bass at home - at the moment I really don't, and probably shouuld do.

- Spend less time doing useless nothingness on the InTarNet

That's all I can think of right now, and if I'm following the last one I really ought to go do something else right now...

Back later with more fabulous information, have a nice day.

> Rain Jogging <

jsut got back in from a mighty run, did 4 miles in about 30 mins, but it was very cold, and windy and rainy. Am about to have a nice bath. Went to the gym yesterday too, so am managin gto keep up my new healthyness plans - after all, only a couple of months till teh beach in Miamiiiiiii - wooooo.

Finished my remix of a new British band called "The Eduaction" last night. Turned out really well, pretty synthy, but with rock guitarryness in there too and some distinctive vox too...

my dad is slackkign on the kitchen again, he went to one of his stereophotgraphy things yesterday which is cool, but its almost 4pm now and hes still not here, and i can tell he's online cos of my AIM buddy list. I swear he's totally addicted to ebaying, or some random internet somethingorother.

My itunes shuffle keeps on playing Christmas songs. Typical - it never picked them out when it was actually Christmas. I'm goign to have to remove them now really, its a bit wierd hearing "Hark the Herald Angels sing" mid January...

I ordered a bunch of punk CDs off Amazon last week, i think they are arriving 2moro. Lots of Soixie and stuff I realised i really need to listen to - there was a great documentary on BBC with Jonathan Ross about UK punk and all that over the holidays, made me realise how much I haven't heard...

anwyay, my bath is overflowing. see ya later.

Cut By PLastic MP3 Clip

Default Loser MP3 Clip

Exile pushes the envelope once again with death-defying mentalist break-chopping and revolutionary sound design. Default Loser touches the electro vibe, but with a militant hard edge, and edits so complex the da vinci code cant sort them out. Cut By Plastic is a steady builder filled with exiles trademark jiggerypokery and innovative technical approach to drum & bass reconstruction. Top notch DJ-friendly dancefloor smashers with a revolutionary mind-blowing edge and ground-breaking edits that knock most other current stuff clear out.

GREG PACKER - "Boss Nova" b/w GREG PACKER vs Soul Drop "Hawiian Groove"

DOG 004 // Release Date: Feb 2005

LINKS TO AUDIO FILES:

Boss Nova MP3 Clip

Hawiian Groove MP3 Clip

Ay Caramba! Greg packer is back with 2 hot Latin DnB beauties. Fatter than a burrito, and spicier than red hot salsa these babies are sure-fire hits with the ladies, and are sure to bring the hot sexy summer vibes to wherever you are...

"Boss Nova" is full of chilled spanish vibes, with a neat little piano loop and lots of Tito Puente-style piqante percussion, and heavy DnB Bassline to keep it all up to date. "Hawaiian groove" is more upbeat, heavier beats and bass with big steel drum loops and loads of classic salsa and latin samples. Now wheres my Cerveza?

Sorry, ran out of latin party cliches so no more 'descriptive' text... The tracks are ace though!! AAAARiba!!!

Random Dream

OK, so I had a wierdish dream last night - it went like this: I was in my house and my Dad was there pottering around doing somethingorother - and I see this MoUsE in my house. Running around on the floor. It was a kinda fat mouse. I was trying to catch it in an upside-down glass, and failing. Then it ran into the bathroom, and out again and I decided to try to kill it, cos i couldn't catch it. So i thew my big Mattthews & VAn Holde Biochemistry text book on it and squashed it. Harsh. Blood and guts everywhere. I guess the text book appeared in my dream because I'd seen it while up in the loft this week... Anyway, so then I decide to take the garbage out, but to big industrial bins by the car park near my house which is a bit wierd, and it was the middle of the night, no cars about or anything, and then these funny little creatures appear ouside, only 3 or 4, cute animals like dogs/teddy bears and they made funny mmeepy catdog sounds, the first one was nice and friendly but another one growled a bit. they kinda reminded me of the gremlins, the furry ones before they turn evil. anyway, they were bizzare little animals and seemed keen to get in my house, so i sorta kicked at them and they went a away. THEN, I went out again to put the garbage out, and there was some mad gorilla roaming around in the park, at nighttime, which was a lot more scarey then wierd fluffy minature bear animals. The gorilla ignored me though, but was jumping around the place and looking dark.

oh and i had another dream the other night where basically i was at that party where prince harry got in trouble for his nazi costume - in my dream he was jsut in normal clothes or whatever, and we were hanging out and just chatting about random normal stuff. Not very eventful, but a wierd dreamsituation. I had one a couple of months ago where i was hanging out with President Bush too, having a nice conversation about everyday things. Bizarrrre.

Anwyay, I gota go for a jog now while its still sunny....

Greetings from NYC

Hi there folks - I'm in NYC right now, flew out here on Friday - have got a bunch of gigs coming up this week - 2 in Salt Lake city on Wednesday and Thursday for the Sundance Film Festival, then Kelowna and Calgary in Canada (assuming the plane can land in the snow) then I'll be in Miami for a few days to chill and jog and sunbathe - fills in the gap midweek - then Friday 4th Feb I play Charlotte NC then a big Mardis Gras Party in New Orleans on 5th Feb.

Last week Dylan and Robyn dropped by on their way back from London recording something for Radio 1 - we all signed something for the webstore....

Its totally snowy here in NYC, I don't think I've seen this much snow in real life evvvvar. about 10 inches came down in one afternoon, when we went up to the central park zoo to see the lovely mousedeer. We were about the only people at the zoo cos it was so snowy. Oh, and look for the demented jogger guy in the back of the photo where I'm all eskimo-esque - what on earrrth!!? Everyone was trudging around in maassive coats and some guy ran past in short shorts off on a jogging mission!!! hahaha!

Carol & Me going down into the NYC Subway.

Carol in the snow outsite the apartment!

Me somewhere in NYC with a mad jogger running past while in the blizzard!

Your friend and mine, one of the 2 MouseDeer at Central Park Zoo.

OH yeah, and last week I got the MAJOR hookup from Sampletank/IK media - got heaps of fab new plugins for my music setup - loads of new libraries and some nice T-Racks mastering software... BOHHHH

One more point I've been meaning to make for a while. WHy, oh WHY do people take sooooo long in the bathroom on planes - MANNNNN some people just take FOREVVVVVVEr. I was waiting for a wee on the way over here for aggges, the person that was in there took so long that a massive line built up, lik e5 or 6 people! Likeeee, arrrggg whaT on EaRRTh are they doing in there. And yes it was only one person, not mile-high biznizz. That's my vent for the day.
